Dr. Michael Sweda
Board Certified Forensic Psychologist
Dr. Sweda is a licensed and board-certified forensic psychologist who has over thirty years of professional experience. He has a breadth and depth of experience in the areas of military forensic psychology, forensic assessment and treatment, expert testimony, training of forensic psychologists, organizational consulting, forensic program design and implementation, and forensic mental health assessment instrument development. Specialty areas of practice include military forensic psychology, violence risk assessment, insider threat assessment, malingered incompetency to stand trial, assessment of sex offenders, sentencing and mitigation evaluations, and pretrial forensic assessment.
Dr Sweda was the director and developer of the first, and still only, postdoctoral training program in forensic psychology to gain accreditation through the American Psychological Association (Walter Reed National Military Medical Center). He has worked on a variety of notable and historic cases including the case that initiated the FBI's Innocent Images program for detecting sexual predators, the case which resulted in the initiation of a National Missing Children’s Day, and another case which resulted in the development of the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website.
